Gift from the sea
ANNE MORROW LINDBERGH was born in Englewood, New Jersey. The summers of her childhood took her to the seashore. Martha's Vineyard, Cape Cod, and later to the island of North Haven off the coast of Maine. Sometimes, in winter, the whole family moved for a month or two to Nassau, a then distant and quiet island in the Bahamas. As her father's life as a diplomat led to more international contacts, there were frequent trips abroad. In 1928, Anne Morrow graduated from Smith College, where she had majored in English literature, with special emphasis on creative writing. In her senior year in college, her father was Ambassador in Mexico, and all the children went down to Mexico City for Christmas vacation. It was here that Anne Morrow first met her future husband, Charles A. Lindbergh
