Abigail Tom and Heather McKay present 243 versatile, duplicatable, and portable picture cards, along with specially designed interactive activities, to provide ESL students at all levels with vocabulary practice, conversational and written language practice, and cultural information.

The cards are divided into nine categories (food, clothing, tools, road signs, faces, furniture, animals, daily activities, leisure activities) and feature line drawings of the individual subjects. The cards are small and easy to hold, or to use on desks and tables.

All of the activities require the participants to exchange information, share opinions, and solve problems.

In addition, each activity:

Stimulates active participation and communication.

Encourages participants to share ideas with each other in English.

Requires little preparation or equipment

Can be used with a variety of materials
